Have you ever heard of the saying, “Pay It Forward?” Well, Wendy’s recently put a spin on the popular saying with their “Treat It Forward” social media campaign. Treat It Forward is an initiative centered around one of their signature products, the Frosty.

For every Frosty that is purchased on June 19th and 20th, Wendy’s will donate .50 to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption up to a total of $50,000. However, what’s unique about the campaign is that it does not only apply to in store purchases. They have created a custom application on their Facebook Frosty page. The application tab displays an intro video about the campaign, a link to post information about the campaign to your Facebook wall, a twitter integration feature and the ability to find your nearest Wendy’s using foursquare.

From June 7th-20th, by spreading the word via social media, Wendy’s will donate an additional .50. To date, the campaign has raised $20,055 by use of social media alone. This is a timely campaign that drives customers not only to their restaurants, but creates buzz centered around the Frosty and also ties in Father’s Day. This clearly shows Wendy’s emphasis to help those in foster care. I consider this an effective and well thought-out campaign that is guaranteed to have some great results. Bravo Wendy’s, bravo!
